Oh yeah, for those of you who do not "get it" allow me to educate your simple one star minds. A haiku has five syllables for the first line, seven for the next, and five for the last. A syllable is how many "sounds" are in the word you say. For instance, "instance" has two and "Syllable" has three.

I would think that if you were really upset about this you would lament the fact that Americans think ANYTHING 5-7-5 counts as a haiku, regardless of content. i'll add a comment by saying you should fix the line with "forte" and leave it as "fort-" as they leave out the last syllable of "forte" which is pronounced "for-tay"

Actually, "forte" as in a proficiency is supposed to be pronounced "fort." "For-tay" is the pronunciation of an accented "forte`" that has to do with music.
