Any geography book will tell you that. 1 for insulting Canada anyway. The people on this site already hate every other culture. This will just give them another excuse to rip on Canada.

September 11th, 2006
(0)
No, no, it's not Canada's fault... it's educational theory that insists on textbook-writing-by-committee... no doubt what they INTENDED to say is that locations have coordinates, that every point on the globe can be accurately described by numbers, etc. ... but then they decided to put it differently for whatever reason, and it ended up as that asinine, insulting phrase. Next, I want to see a Physics textbook that says, "Matter is stuff and things."
September 11th, 2006
(0)
I think I had that textbook in like 5th grade...

September 11th, 2006
(0)
1 stars for unfunny, end of statement. However, stop trying to pass off photoshops as real
September 11th, 2006
(0)
Yeah, I am really sure they dropped a san serif sentence right into a paragraph of serif text. At least try to match the g'damn font.

"Place is a term that has a variety of meanings in a dictionary sense, but which is principally used in a geographic sense as a noun to denote location, though in a sense of a location identified with that which is located there." "Places have a location", Wikipedia style. Must be a Canadian wiki.
September 11th, 2006

September 11th, 2006

September 11th, 2006

September 11th, 2006

(0)

September 11th, 2006
(0)
1'd for being stolen and breaking copyright on this textbook
September 11th, 2006
(0)
Funny; but really it has nothing to do with it being canadian, it's probably like a grade 3 book
September 11th, 2006
(0)
LOL taken out of context, its funny!
September 11th, 2006
(0)
Great, but you neglected the other qualities of places which are equally amusing
September 11th, 2006
(0)
lol foolish canadians
September 11th, 2006
(0)
they think that because places have locations, that we want to understand that to get to the place of a place, we have to "travel" to a "location" to find the place where that location is situated (on a map) AMERICA>canada
September 11th, 2006
(0)
we pwn u canada, and dont say anything like "thats showin thos americans, eh?" OR WE INVADE UR ASS!
September 11th, 2006
(0)
not funny. Textbooks say stupid things all the time. So do Americans. "youre workin hard to put food on ur family"
September 11th, 2006
(0)
F*ck nationalism, go International! United planet'yo
September 11th, 2006
(0)
Halloa. Wow, I laughed my head off at this one. Very very nice. I like the music and the sarcasm. It is funny how textbooks state the obvious. However, just to clarify, there is a difference between "place" and "location". "place" is defined as the culture, vegetation, climate, geographic distribution, and economy of an area. Location is just its location on the globe. HOWEVER, NOTHING CAN EXCUSE THE LACK OF ANY INTELLEGENCE IN THESE TEXTBOOKS! My final word on this..............................................LOL
September 11th, 2006
(0)
Ah, gotta love the days of high school.
September 11th, 2006

If I was that school, I'd want my money back for those books.
September 11th, 2006
(0)

September 11th, 2006

September 11th, 2006
(0)
Candians from Canadia. Hail Stalin.
September 11th, 2006
(0)
1. I am Canadian. 2. The text looks photoshopped. Doesn't look like the same font... I smell photoshopped.
September 12th, 2006
(0)
"Matter is stuff and things." - that's actually a good starting definition
September 12th, 2006
(0)
The problem with most textbooks is the publisher's insistence to come out with a new edition every other year for subjects that rarely change.
September 12th, 2006
(0)
that is the logical conclusion. 5s all around!
September 12th, 2006
(0)
Geography is a class for retards anyway, I award you no points, and I feel we have all gotten dumber viewing this YTMND.
September 12th, 2006

September 12th, 2006

as a geography major, I'll just say that "location" and "place" means a somewhat different thing than what simpletons percieve them to be.

September 12th, 2006
(0)
lol, canada eh?¿?
September 12th, 2006
(0)
"Places interact with other places." They certainly do not. If a place is in one place, how can it interact with a place in another place? That makes no sense.
September 12th, 2006
(0)
Haha, I have this textbook in my backpack, if anyone else has it, it's on page 94.
September 12th, 2006

I love how books start off so amazing simplistic, then go nuts. My biology book starts off with: Biology is the study of life. But what is life? then you find youself confused about the finer points of DNA
September 12th, 2006
