I don't get why those guys would so blatantly steal from Timbaland. I mean, come on. Artists in the hip-hop community care deeply about their music. Enough to kill for it. And when they put so much hard work into creating their own beats just to be stolen by some no-name kid off the streets, well I think it's just wrong. Timbaland is a victim.
You would be better of if you got rid of the Ebaum comparison. Considering how many sites here are stolen from 4chan, SA, and various forums we have no moral high ground. Sadly thisn't isn't new either. Jet stole Iggy Pop's riff from "Lust for life" and RHCP's "Dani California" is almost an exact copy of Tom Petty's "Mary Jane's last dance" just to name a few.
The difference between ytmnd and ebaum:
YTMND is a site with many different people who post whatever they want,
Ebaumsworld is a site where one man (or maybie 2 or 3 working with him) takes stuff and puts it on his own website. Our whole website can't claim suckness because of a few (hundred) who steal.
Eric Bauman is but one man. This is what seperates us from stealing apes and men.
Why's the guy not pursuing legal action? Attorneys are expensive, but they're not THAT expensive. Considering the potential millions he'd be due in royalty checks, it'd be more than worth the risk. More than likely it wouldn't even go to trial, considering the evidence. And I'll bet the label would settle out of court just to avoid the bad press.
Just goes to show you how unoriginal rap artists are, from covering old kids songs,to cool techno beats, they just aren't even trying anymore. I say he gets some solid evidence and blow them out of the water, since that crap appears on MTV so damn much,it would hurt them pretty bad, well it's like I say,you can't spell crap without"rap". I now actually miss when rap was tolerable and relevant and not about sex and drug and getting laid. 5'd for solid work.
It is Time that YTMND's true nature shall be heard throughout the world, we are the protectors of the weak, and the honest, and the noble. We at YTMND must bring justice to an injustice, we cannot live another day while people out there steal for profit and fame, are you all with us, or against us, lets let the world know NOW !!!!!! 5/5
The amazing thing isn't that a rap producer didn't use an original source, because that's just commonplace enough in ALL forms of music dating back to the 1700's. As a jazz musician, I am encouraged to use quotes from other songs in my improvisations. No, the amazing thing, if this is a true story, is that someone like Timbaland is using a Commodore 64 conversion. Which just goes to show you: If you're gonna steal, steal from the best.
And to those saying he'd win in a court of law....well, you're wrong.
Defenders of the Internets UNITE! We share common bonds with our brothers and sisters at SA, 4chan, and elsewhere, but none of us get anything more than a hike in views and ratings for our passing along of unoriginal work. These n*gg*s is ridiing around in Escalades and tappin hos while sippin on Dom Perignon and throwin the rest of the bottle out. That's RL exploitation of other people's work.
It's sh*tty this dumb n*gg*r decided to rip these guys off, but if neither is willing to pursue legal action, then what you are doing is iditotic. The guy doesn't realize how open and shut this case is. His own ignorance is sad, but instead of "spreading the word" moronically, you could start a donation site so that he can acquire adequate legal coverage. Just like how stupid so many people on this site are when ebaums rip them off, they donate money to make idiotic YTMNDs popular instead of hiring a lawyer
Whoever was trying to defend hip-hop/rap with "ever heard of sampling?! lol" is spewing a bunch of bullsh*t. Stealing is stealing, no matter what you call it. Sh*t like this is the reason Hip Hop is dying, which actually used to be a decent genere of music back when they could actually make an orignal song. Timbaland is a talentless prick who happenned to know the right people and pull the right strings. Thats all he is, nothing more. He wont be around in 2 years anyways so why the f*ck should I care.
First off, hip-hop is some of the best music out there. There's nothing wrong with sampling other records for a track, but Timbaland should've been up front about it and give credit where credit's due. Indie rappers and producers generally don't worry about clearing samples, but for a major-label release like Furtado's album, he should've seeked permission. I'm sure that's what the label would've wanted, rather than dealing with a possible lawsuit.
I heard about this already, on YouTube. your text even looks similar. I guess you didn't make money from this so it's okay, but the people who posted it on YouTube didn't make money either. I don't hate you for stealing, but there is a certain irony. as far as Timbaland goes, I like his music but I don't support his stealing of the song. Also, Finland is the ballsack of northern Europe- check a map
he might of not stolen but he might of paid under the table for this guy to write a song for him this happens alot in the music industry ,most of the time in the rap community where somone pays somone to write somthing for them but they will get no credit for it that is what might of happen here its called ghost writing look it up but this is still a good ytmnd cuz it exposes timbaland as not creative and should not be getting paid as much as he does for being a "Producer"
Because this'll prolly get a considerable amount of exposure (in addition to that it's already gotten on digg), I'd advise you to do the following things:
1. Capitalize "finnish".
2. Find a picture of Timbaland. The one you have features Magoo prominently, and will confuse people.
3. Make it clear that the story isn't over after Timbaland releases the ringtone.
4. Sync it better.
5. Just polish it all-around.
That's business.
Also, like the Site Creator said, don't say this is wrong just because you're all angry hip-hop haters, say it's wrong because he's stealing. Vanilla Ice stole from David Bowie and Queen, but if someone made a site about that, you wouldn't care. Probably because Vanilla Ice is white, I presume.
