If he blamed video games for causing the gunman to go on a rampage without even knowing anything about the gunman, including what influenced him, then that makes Jack Thomson's argument unfalsifiable, and therefore methodologically incorrect. We should give no value to his claims, but you already knew that. We should, however, give him much credit for his outstanding douchebaggery.
You know, i dont wanna blame video games, and i dont really wanna place a bet on this (theres no telling with this douche), but when i heard the gunman was korean, i automatically assumed he shot that college up because he was angry over losing a starcraft 1v1 match or something. No matter what, starcraft is related. Hes korean. Think about it.
The real tradgedy here isn't so much that this happened, it's that we will hear more about these f*ckin rich pampered corpses in the coming weeks than we will ever hear about our brave men and women in uniform dying. Regardless of your stance on the war in Iraq, there are brave men and women serving their country valiantly and dying every day. Sadly, none get an ounce of sympathy in the f*cking press unless it serves to make the President look bad. Only then do they move from the last page to the front.

Shut the hell up, whenever a country bans guns crime skyrockets (even gun crime increases). Let's take away peoples right to defend themselves against violent attackers, that makes sense. There's a reason this happened on a college campus, because it's a gun free zone.
hey jack thompson, I'm a 'loner', I barely talk to anyone except my closest friends and I watch violent movies and play violent video games. But you know what? I'm the nicest guy you'll ever meet and I'd never lay a finger on another person with the intention to do harm to them. The reason why killers play violent video games is because they are attracted to them. that's the only link. it doesn't work the other way around. a video game will not make somone violent unless they are already violent.
i vote we do the oppisite of jack thompson and say shooting are cuase by lack of games! see people are borde of every day life, so they get guns are shoot people to feel the "thrill" of killing people. but with games people can still get the thrill of shooting with out actually kill people! thuse keeping Dangerous people off the street!

I hope thompson gets killed by a pshycopath who has never used video games. only then, maybe, will he understand what an *ssh*le he is. If I was one of the families of the VT victims, i would want him dead.
To be fair, they found no videogames in his dorm, but confiscated a PC that could have contained CS or other PC games. That doesn't change the fact that his roommate never once saw him play a single game, so if he ever DID play CS or other PC games, it would have been a very rare occurrence. Wikipedia says that he did play CS back in high school (4 years prior), but that there was no evidence he'd played it since. It's also hilarious that Thompson blames BILL GATES for the existance of CS.
I hate how so many people in the news=entertainment industry and people like Jack "The Asswipe" Thompson make it their business to try and match the douchebaggery of the killers by exploiting the tragedies for their own personal gain. Oh, I'm sorry? Are you still in shock because you saw a guy kill your friend? Let me shove a microphone in your face and ask you heart-wrenching questions? What was it like watching your friend's brains get blown out? Heartless, souless, tool-ass greedbots.
