Pretty close but you left out the part about how I like to meet nice people. I like nice people, I deal with assholes enough and I can be one from time to time. I'll still 5 your sites if I like them. You have a good vocabulary, you are clearly smart and capable of making good sights... I just don't know what sent you on your fucking tear with people. It's not 2006 and things change, like the old farmer's adage goes: make good websights while the sun shines. Does that need any translation?

you're not understanding what i'm saying. even if its shitty, which it is, ytmnd is getting a bunch of views it would normally not receive. it's not even exactly bad exposure. some of those reddit posts are getting lots of upvotes. that means people like them. they like the ytmnd sites. people liking ytmnd sites is important for ytmnd. it is annoying, yes. but this place is dieing so as beggars we cant be choosers.<br /><br />what's more even more annoying than these fladers gifs is you missing the point, missing an opportunity, then going on to making this site which will have pathetically no impact on anything if it doesn't encourage these semi-troll users to keep doing what they're doing. now they can say "i'm ating like a douche and people are noticing. plus, i'm probably not even thinking i'm giving exposure to a dieing website."<br /><br />[i]it's a harmless prank that can be used to the website's advantage[/i]<br /><br />no offense, but to simply write this kind of behavior off as annoying and uncalled for is short sighted. we should be flooding reddit weekly, both with crap, easily understood content like the flanders gifs, and with higher effort, actually funny sites.

This update isn't any less "ytmnd" than it was on April 31st. I still have the old server/codebase/db backups, and if I really wanted to, could set up a copy of the site on April 31st. The same problems would still exist.<br /><br />I think the majority of the changes to the site template are not as sacrilege as many people claim. It's one of the most complicated pieces of the site and trying to maintain random.ytmnd.com, random.ytmnd.com/random, preview, as well as preferences which change the layout, all while rolling out new features and making sure each one doesn't break is a massive headache.<br /><br />Having YTMNDs load for 3 seconds doesn't take away from the experience in my view, even if your YTMND doesn't need synchronization. I think seeing a loading bar briefly is ultimately a better user experience than say, showing a "plugin needed" message when you don't have quicktime.<br /><br />People have suggested making recently created the entire front page and I think it's too short sighted. It just doesn't have enough draw. There is a limit to the number of people who come here wanting to actually find a "diamond in the rough" where as it's much more likely they'll want to have their good content picked out for them (a la up and coming).<br /><br />I think the biggest problem with the site isn't the front page; the front page is just a compilation trying to describe recent events on YTMND. I think the problem is the lack of any helpful way to browse YTMND when you want to go *[b]beyond[/b]* the front page. In 2006 there was /list/, which was quite literally, a list of every site ever made, with sortable columns. This quickly became a scalability issue and was replaced with a much better search and /browse/ (which is now /sites/). These features just don't provide an understanding of the breadth of YTMND and its history.<br /><br />The two most trafficked pages are the front

How am I benefiting from these people though? I don't do reach arounds. I vote on what I like. If my ratings were so inflated (using your theory) then why do I get low rated sites too? Are you saying upvoters never caught sight of those? Or maybe, there are some other people on this website that vote without this bias. I'm not saying that the FPA is responsible for every comment downvote. I'm not saying they are responsible for all immaturity on ytmnd. I am just saying that they are one contributing factor.

Really Really informative and interesting. I'm glad to see not everyone is outright bashing your sight for being thoughtful and actually thought provoking instead of meaningless jokes. No offense. It is a site steeped mostly in humor (with a surprising amount of politics mixed in) but just because it's not a blatantly absurd mockery or joke doesn't mean it's bad. (also I enjoyed the 'WTF Russia" part. Mixing alittle humor in with tragedy is what makes the world a great place IMHO)

Wow, I did not notice this until I went to my sight profile and saw "252" votes for this ytmnd. I will never stop making cake sites, and I will have a big announcement coming out sometime in early June.

I want to wiegh in on the debate, I'll say this from the massive spread of anti-ebaumsworld that in itself will damage the hit rate on his sight in the future. The ping of death aka DDOS, will only harm it so long a temporary ailment to the site, people that have it bookmarked will probably not even know it's being attacked. As they may have pages not affected by the porn spam hacks. I do think this is going to give him a large amount of hits but, the guy is already branded an idiot to countless other people on the YTMND site that in time will dwindle the hit rates. I think it was wrong for him to steal content and make a big buck off it, and in the long run this will actually NOT hurt YTMND but, actually help YTMND, as more people are curious as to what all this tom foolery is about. Thus discovering YTMND.com, there might even come a retentive lawyer claiming COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT!! God help that poor sap. But, all and all it's a good fad to follow up on and watch for entertainment.
