actually i remember very little of any of that. also, you really don't get it. its so easy to just fool around and get rises out of people like you. kind of like when you told my adenacrawl account about how i was an "elite user" because i used media that is not generally posted on ytmnd and because i edited you gifs. i didn;t even pm you. you pmed me. you liked my sites when you thought it was not me.<br /><br />also, you apparently dont get the joke about how i talk about how i'm a hot drug dealer who sleeps with tons of women. you dont get it it and never do unless someone explains it to you (embarrasses you)

Predictability is one of your few mottos. And I don't mean it like "Craig Ferguson is predictable", because he is an established comedian. You are not. I can even predict the content of the replies to this message: one of you, most probably the first, will downvote this comment and write "didn't read"; another one will make a half-witty statement about how I'm playing their game just by talking about them; another one will reply to the first reply with at least two accounts, with links to sites about the user who made the first reply; then the conversation would fall into a confusing mix of unoriginal offensive remarks. I could say more but it's not worth it.<br /><br />If I had to see a change in your pattern, I wouldn't believe it. You are like a dead rotten body who doesn't want to realize it's dead. So it keeps doing the same things over and over. Even the supposedly most dangerous member of your band of futility fails to impress, the only unusual feature be exploiting a bug in the site code. And with a very little creative outcome. You try to make a 4chan-esque repetition fit into a structure that is not intended, not even suitable for such actions. You keep on doing it, since 2006 at least, and you still don't understand it. I suppose you make this for your own enjoyment, but why doing it here? It's like riding a bike with square wheels.<br /><br />YTMND is a flexible community, but not much. here's a sad story. i was talking my my friend about ytmnd. by the way, this person is the guy who showed me ytmnd for the first time. anyway, i was telling him about how dead it is and how there is now a very small user base. he replied "that's awesome!" to which i was perplexed. i asked him why he thought that was so great, and he explained "well, if there's such a small circle of people making content, then there should be a lot less dumb fad crap and much more fine tuned, quality content. i mean, doesn't a small circle of users make for some sick collaborations? i'm excited to see where that goes. besides, max probably likes it better that way." i told him he was mistaken, he should not be excited for ytmnd's future and yes, max probably does like it better that way.<br /><br />this is a great site and all, but why are we continuing to make star trek shit and sites about ytmnd?

finally, some examples. but pretty much just assertions backing up other assertions.<br /><br />I don't like everything uncircumcised does, I vote high when he shows skill or good use of humor. I only know of one site where he used a stolen asset which I happened to upvote - that was where he had some alternative batman gif.<br /><br />Not knowing about a site feature that involves a few clicks to get to does not mean one is dumb, easily explainable as being an infrequent user or just never finding a real need for a certain feature. I never really saw the need to do it before. There was only once or twice I have ever regretted voting.<br /><br />My idiotic statements on Ayn Rand and selfishness? What are you talking about? Max, I thought you were going to keep the Minecraft server up, but from what you said I will lose the opportunity to meet people there, people who even use this website. For example, yesterday I was very excited when I found out that a YTMND user was in the world. I wanted to talk to him and play with him a little bit. I'm new at Minecraft so everything about it looks new and beautiful, especially the fact that I can interact with real people. Of course, there's always the real world but it's my choice if I want to go and play in a virtual world. Besides, I'm most probably the only Italian active user here and I bet most of you live in the States, in any case far from that shithole that is Italy, and I wanted to see what is like to play with one of you, without having my words dismissed in an indistinguishable cloud of forced unfunny jokes and pitiful self promotion. I think it's acceptable here to have this behaviour, we can all be characters here. But in Minecraft, how much does a fake and shady "personality" last? In the 3D world you are more human than in a webpage.<br />The impending closure of that Minecraft server will make me reflect about the importance of the real world not based on a computer. There's no switch off for the Universe.

Why do you talk about me as if I've had a real conversation with you? Also, this says more about the users who are willing to click a ytmnd link on reddit than it does about the userbase of the reddit as a whole, or any other community that could be considered respectable and would consider joining if ytmnd wasn't the alcoholics anonymous of the internet.

But I don't condemn it, everyone has a right to speak, reasonably or not. It's up to us to judge if something deserves to be considered.<br />When I talked about improving the general mood I must have been too generic. You can improve the mood of the community indirectly: pointing out the trolling is a very good start. But I must remind what we already know: that every reference to trolls makes the trolls stronger, and there's no way to get rid of them if not with some extreme measures, which don't necessarily need to be permanent. I believe this site is now a machine that has a broken gear; unfortunately we, as simple users, can't replace it.<br />Some comments ago I suggested the community should unite and work together and stop making wars. But some users told me that it seems impossible, because there are so many differences, even about whether noise sites are good or not (and that should be a no-brainer, in my opinion.)

I think I read most of the comments in this journal post twice. I feel very concerned about the situation that is creating here. I sense so much hate, whether it is staged or not. I don't want to talk about me, but I have to tell you this: I'm quite a sensitive person and I visit this site maybe 20 times a day. I like to see what people share, I like the funny stuff, but when I look harder I read the comments, I see downvotes driven by pure hate, jealousy or even for no reason at all (dare I say "just for fun".) And since the site is up again the negativity is palpable more than ever. I'm even experiencing it firsthand, thanks to a user who doesn't act like his/her blood is flowing to his/her brain. As Max said in a post in 2007 (I'm paraphrasing,) freedom of speech is ok, but when the shit hits the fan you have to spend a lot of time cleaning the fan. And a soapy sponge is not enough.<br />I like to imagine this site as a place where you have fun, reflect and discuss about what people feel important to share. Do we really have to fight against each other, for things which don't even concern our role in this community? Do we have to scream and offend, saying the obvious most of the time? Do we have to judge, condemn and bash just because we think we have a right to say whatever we want?<br />I live in a place where school books used to be regulated by the "government" and still there's a lot to complain about openness. Stephen Colbert often jokingly says "Freedom isn't free." Maybe he's right, if you think about it. We have been given a chance to express ourselves, by a sole person. Let's not spoil this opportunity, we cannot take anything for granted. For the sake of this community, behave yourself. All of us. Me too.

I remember when I used to think like you, eightbitprodigy. I've always been mad when my sites were downvoted, too. Actually I gave up long time ago, but not because I think ytmnd has become full of shit, but because I don't recognize this site anymore. Many things have changed (and I'm not talking about the much needed improvements) to the point of being a place completely different from where I belonged. This site left too much space for childish experiments, half-assed trolling, confusing creations; but luckily I don't waste my time complaining much about it (that's not to say that you're wasting your time.) Instead I try to observe the evolution of this site, which is now different like a teenager inexplicably angry with their parents. If I tried to make a new site just now (I have more than 4 in my head and I'm incredibly afraid to make and upload them) it could get downvoted in a matter of minutes. And, not to be cocky, I made good stuff. But, recently, good stuff as I know it is kinda underrated. Take that as one of the few reasons I back your decision completely. Maybe we and the other "good users", as I like to call them, could come back making sites and forget about the time when ytmnd was a place full of crap. Crap is the new black, I suppose. But I'm not against it, like you I have very limited power.

I don't think farkle started out making moon man sites. That makes it seem like he was an independent user to me.<br /><br />Also I talked to him on MSN once or twice and he kinda seemed like a 10 year old kid that would be grounded if his parents saw what he did on the internet.

I realize it's there, I just don't like the new set up where I have to go looking for comments that have been made on my sites, especially old ones. The old way, new comments were clearly visible from my profile page as soon as I went there. You couldn't miss them. Now I can't see them without going fishing for them and people can have a full conversation on a site of mine without me knowing.<br /><br />A perfect example of this is on the site I made this observation on. It belongs to daily user who did not realize for a week that 3 people were talking on a site of his. Its so easy to miss now.<br /><br />I like the idea of the social enhancements max made, but a couple of the changes to the old way seem to have decreased the very social factor they were meant to increase.

i will echo the "never ask for advice on the internet" sentiments, especially on a website where 97% of its users have never even talked to a girl before. but if you want advice anyway, i'd say don't lose custody of your kid. get yourself a good "dad's rights" lawyer, and don't miss out on seeing your kid grow up. that's pretty much all that matters.

Yeah, Lacrossestar83 makes a crapload of wacky sites that involve his own unique ear rape tracks, bizarre flashing gifs and/or him playing Lacrosse or the Ukelele. He also likes to make a bunch of sites attacking his enemies like RublilacEx, GaryGnu and others. Prairiedogeric10 makes a lot of sites where he talks on the microphone about various random stuff. He also has his own variety of strangeness, but nothing like Lacrossestar83. Lax is probably either a crack user or LSD user. PDE definitely likes pot and most likely shrooms. What's ironic about PDE is that his most highly rated site is about you.

For the record, I thought the last update was awesome and I like everything but black on white text and Ed Hardy t-shirt style graphics on the new one. Yep. I didn't want to be so blunt bu you are right filibuster: ytmnd is really dead. And Umfuld, Up and coming only shows 10 sites on the frontpage. "Hundreds" what are you talking about? I think the point you are trying to make is that its harder to get exposure, but that is MORE due to a lack of users issue than an overabundance of sites rated over 4. Ratings are just an abstraction that tells us how much we will like a site, and acts as a filter for exposure. Beyond that ratings have no value.
