Max: I've always admired how you stand up to the legal crusaders (ebaums, scientology, sega, now wizards). Also, nice touch on the 1/2 second text that shows up on the front page. Kind of menacing, but will be fun to see how the lawyers try to sum that up in an email.

I seriously doubt they will resort to sueing you max for several reasons:
1. First amendment: congress shall pass no law infringing the freedom of speech, press, etc.
2. Most of this is old news: Harry Potter spoilers were leaked by someone within the Scholastic orginization and have been reported upon many other, more professional websites. Sueing ytmnd would be a waste of resources, sueing one of them (or ebaums world) might not be.
3. I cleaned up my basement.....

YTMND has beat Ebaums, Sciencetology, and Sega. What makes you think that some rabid lawyers are going to stop us? Besides, spoiling the book is only practising our right to free speech which is what YTMND is all about. Keep on fighting max.

Because 1. Ebaums still has the telemarketer phone call. 2. Scientology and Sega stopped caring. No one was really beaten. He could've kept lindsay lohan if he felt like paying the bandwidth costs. We've never really accomplished anything except for the guys that went up and vandalized his office. In this high tech world the only way you win fights on the internet is to a) Be a DG or b) have lawyers.

Max, you really need to I dunno, abandon this whole enterprise- there is no way you'll ever make a decent living off of your sites, because you feel obliged to provide the best content you can tword your community- look at Ebaums, for example. They make 10x the money, because the profit hungry sh*tbags. I mean, you get nothing out of the deal but a warm feeling that your one of the only non-profit hungry people n this cesspool that is the internet.
Eh, oh well....

and WoW crazed guys from WoW forums across the web. I often try to refer my friends to ytmnd, but they always ask a ton of (in my view) obvious questions. Sure, I dont want this turning into an internet fad like youtube, myspace or even ebaums. But the kind of humor promiment on ytmnd will scare most total morons away. Despite seeming simple and dumb, most of this humor is relativly complex.
Secondly, and less importantly, the search feature. Fad categories pl0x? Being able to browse based [cont again]

this site can't close. If it does, eBaums wins... WE MUST CRUSH THOSE F*CKING BASTARDS WITH THE WEIGH OF OUR BALLS! Remember when the n*gg* first stole your bike? Or when NEDM was funny? How about Chunk? Not to mention raiding boards, taking on Tom Cruise's cult of choice, and SEGA for sonic rapings.
Look if this site closes i'm going to tubgirl myself to get it back on!!

The interwebz shall never be the same. Farewell, YTMND, in all your glory.
Some of us, myself included, could say we've seen better days, when the forums weren't TOTALLY filled with sh*t, sites weren't hacked, and sh*tty sites were never viewed. When our problems were Downvoters and eBaum and we teamed up against them. When new fads arose every week, and everyone loved coming here. YTMND is probably the best example of the internet I know, and I will miss it dearly.

well we could put all our moving gifs into windows movie maker and post the videos on ebaums not for the purpose of being enjoyed by ebaumers alone but rather as a memorial that we were here as ytmnders.

He could claim to have sold the site to an ebaum style aggregate... he could actually shut it down for a day... He could screw up the voting somehow... he could instill some kind of censorship system that was really strict... or he could ...
...
really close the site down and see how long people think it was a prank

Simple. Once it's fresh out the "out" tray, you try to click it repeatedly, then realize it's a copy of the online original and start raiding eBaum's World by burning it and sending the ashes to the mailing address, along with assorted written rants about "lulz" or whatever.

ytmnd 'worked' when 1) the jan 2006 ebaums debacle created an influx of new users and interest to the site ( http://doir.ir/duxx/05-01-2012-10-39-25_viz.png ) .. new users enjoyed making sites because the gif+sound(+text) concept was so simple, and allowed plenty of room for experimentation. 2) more importantly, the frontpage served as a huge incentive to make sites as it rewarded users with massive audience exposure via 'up and coming' and 'top viewed today' .

ytmnd 'died' when max decided to make the site orange. straight up. the intimidating gang tattoo 'ytmnd' logo at the top of the page in like 2005-2006 was so good. it worked so well. if you had never been to the site before it seemed sort of like a dangerous place--along with there being a nsfw version with a BLACK background. fucking menacing imo-- im not even playing max that site design was so badass.

idk bout yall but 'camping out' on sites' comment pages that were up and coming/most viewed all day/night reading comments as they came in was the shit. it was even worth it to make exotic troll sites like [site cosby-bebop:site] that had endless hateful comments just for the pleasure of reading. does a site even make like 10 views any more?

max knew how to get users to do shit for him for free, because people cared about the site. that was going for him real well until people warmed up to his jew tricks and he had to get people like BTape to make stuff for him. What do you think is going to happen to the site if you promote BTape to chairman of the board? take a look at the site in its present state.

the community of those who were most active in 2006 are no longer active, except for fearcondom lol, and because as you can see, there is no incentive to make sites any more if you want to reach any sort of audience. seriously who comes to this site any more---who are all these people?

this site was a lot of fun at one point though

So max... What do you feel when you log in these days and see what your once great website has become?

When you look back at the successful battles you've had with Dustin Diamond, Ebaum, Sega and Scientology, do you find it ironic that your once (I assume) proud site has been ruined by the very free speech and copyright principles you fought so hard for in the beginning?

When you see the U&C splattered with anti-Semitic/racist moonman sites does it burn you that through it all this is how you're making money off the site, or do you just secretly smile all the way to the bank knowing that you're getting the last laugh on these kids? Is that your little "eff you" back to them?

I have no idea what you want from this site going forward and have no idea why you allow this easy to moderate stuff to continue?

We can debate all day long about different reasons why we all think the site has taken a turn, but surely this part of it is easy.

Are you making that much money off moonman that you just can't bring yourself to shut it down? You seem to keep threatening to wipe these kids out, but never do.

Why?
