I have a suggestion for some fun with database power. I was discussing with a friend just the other day about creating a graphical visualization of the all sites on here. The graph would link sites based on their keywords, and you could visualize fads and how they interace. something like this: http://www.caida.org/tools/visualization/walrus/

I'd suggest some kind of fad section for the old and famous ones arranged in a descending tree format based on the creation dates of major ytmnds of those fads. Would really help people "new" to ytmnd who wonder wtf half the sites are about.

A sites quality has nothing to do with the number of fads you squeeze in. Based on what I've seen in frontpage comments lately I don't expect it to get better anytime soon. I don't know why frontpage became such a noob sandbox, ebaum probably had something to do with all the new users registering, but damn it sucks somebody post the pic of the azn kid eating 1337 cereals and put it in top 15 lol.

...how about this, voters that only downvote, or have a greater sum of 1 stars than another other vote, lose their strength of the vote by 50%. Same with voters who only upvote, lose it by 50% also. ---> Then an algorithm can be based on the spread of your own votes, and everyone's vote would be the average of that.

hmm, I wonder if any revision could solve the issue of "indie"- sites that fall by the way side. Sites under 3.9 are pretty much lost to the ether. Maybe we could have a "User Spotlight" or something that shows like 3 sites at a time. Only pick users with 6 months + membership, and 3.25 average site rating. Dunno, but classic, and stupidy (see "Fishbiscuit") sites just can't grow roots on a sex obsessed instant gratification fad hungry user base... also see my fad comp for big laughs :p

max, i don't have a problem with you adding all the ads you want, but once they start making noise they impose on my YTMND viewing. also, the flood of sh*tty sites based off the ads is annoying too.

I get nothing out of the aftermath of my comments. I spoke my mind and you're free to take it and run with it. If you disagree, it doesn't matter to me. If you call me gay for saying what I said, well heyguysitsasurprise.ytmnd.com, and you can infer that I don't really care. I don't. If what I'm saying is completely off base, and you make an intelligible response that convinces me, then I'll change my opinion. It won't make me any happier or sadder. Or, I guess, maybe it would if that were your point.

heres my biggest pet peeve right now - I like fads. but YTMND has gotten so large that a) potential fads drown amongst so many sites - you can create a fadworthy site but by the time the other versions of it are up people might not have any idea what its based off of and it doesnt get attention. b) actual fads are eaten up and chewed out amazingly fast - if you go away for the weekend you might miss one entirely

" Actually, I think many were taken from Something Awful...I heard they were doing some project based on the headbutt...but others like smoothmedia's take (France Fighter), an SFF from Lord of the Rings, an NEDM shootout styled site...those I would suppose took some effort. Oh yeah, the Katrina fad was just bad...only reedeming sites was a joke site with Zangief and Lousiana, but the amount of racism, poor humor, eh.

Apparently people think that the Garden of Eden is historical even though there is no historical evidence that even suggests that it is true. I don't know how you people categorize what is historical and what isn't, but I thought it was based on the historical evidence that suggests that it is true and not how strongly your faith in an archaic religion is.
