Max added zooming text to the original ytmnd because it was a good idea to have the text of the quote and name of the site on the site itself. It wouldn't have been as good just to have the picture and sound. Plus, the big zooming text of the url flying towards the viewer highlights the absurdity of it being a website of its own. Zooming text is also a really good way to overlay text on any picture and still make it noticeable.
