Actually, the color remake from the 80's had John Lithgow doing the Shatner role--Dan Ackroyd was in the "wrap-around" story. Best part of "3rd Rock From the Sun" where Shatner shows up--Sally (to Shatner): So how was your trip, sir? Shatner: Horrifying, at first. I looked out the window and... I saw something on the side of the plane. Lithgow: The same thing happened to me!
