Close but you failed to acknowledge the possibility that x can have more than one answer. First a disproof: 10x - x = 9 -> x-x = 9/10 -> 0 =9/10. Therefore, you fail. Here's a better proof: 1 = 9/9 -> 9*(1/9)=9*.111...=.999...
