Pretty freaking awesome. The only thing I don't like is how it pronounces numbers with two "numerical" digits as one number, e.g. 11 as "eleven" and not "one one". Nonetheless this is an awesome take on it, whether or not you support "spreading the number".

I support spreading the number for a few reasons. The way the key system is structured it won't matter in a few months as far as encryption, but it's the fact that they were trying to get it pulled with the DMCA that bothers me. They need to learn that they can't control numbers, and that the collective intellectual property laws of various countries can never silence our innate rights.

Instead of just a text repost of the number, this is a piece of copylefted art (the sound is too). This is a defensible presentation - basically, they can't issue a takedown on it.

kraln, you're an idiot and obviously have no concept about copyright law. Defensible presentation? Are you kidding me? Anyone who looks at that will say - that is the HD DVD logo. You think cause you make it out of some hex (their key which they claim rights over, no less), that you somehow skirt copyright law? Grow the f*ck up and stop thinking the world and its logic operate like a computer. That is the HD DVD logo.
May 2nd, 2007
(1)
I'd like to add that as this site accepts sponsorships (like you've already done so), it is technically commercial use (ytmnd has now profited from the use of their trademark), already throwing your 'fair use' claim out the window.

Also, I am not personally profiting from this work, it does not cause undue damages, it is an artistic interpretation of the current maelstrom of internet activity. Their mark is covered under trademark law, which has exceptions for parody and artistic expression (guess what this is). The code is covered under the DMCA, which is bullsh*t because it's a number. Also, c*cks.

Kraln is now officially my favorite YTMNDer.
May 3rd, 2007
(1)
You missed the point that rx was trying to make- if they wanted to issue a takedown of this ytmnd, they very well could. Yeah, it's a number- but not just any number. No judge is going do dismiss the outright similarity of the HDDVD logo made with their albeit copyrighted number; and any attempt made in defense of said similarities would be thrown out of court faster than Jazz out of the Banks' mansion.

Uh, can you please explain the significance of this? Sure it looks cool, but I don't know why...
May 3rd, 2007
(-2)
The encryption system used to control the content on hd-dvds is an AES based publickey system. This is one of the public keys assigned to a player, allowing that player to play the content. It had to be brutally ripped from the memory of a running program, because they want to keep the children safe from pirated movies. Some people posted it, and the MPAA/AACS group immediately sent DMCA 'takedown' notices ordering people to take down this (a hexidecimal representation of a number).
May 3rd, 2007

Could someone please explain what he just explained?

Hooray for HD-DVD. Oh, and for all of you Blu-Ray PS3 fanbois, it's going to f*cking fail. Sony won't let pr0n on the blu-ray, so it will fail, just like the Betamax did.
May 3rd, 2007

People don't need pr0n on DVDs. That's what the internet is for, and hard drives. (Blu-Ray is actually winning right now, sucks to be you)

This entire thing is just a bunch of nerds that want to feel like theyre part of some big movement. Spamming this number on a bunch have sites have dont NOTHING except for the number to be recalled and be rendered useless. This is not a protest against free speech, the TOS stated piracy and anything related was not tolerated on Diig, you agreed when you signed up. Quit posting this bullsh*t, it makes you look like retards.

"Some people posted it, and the MPAA/AACS group immediately sent DMCA 'takedown' notices ordering people to take down this (a hexidecimal representation of a number)." So you post it here self sponser it and thus endanger YTMND, and you break copyright law to boot. This number is actually worth a tidy sum of change and they will be seeking damages, should have kept this on digg and not here. I applaud your site making skills but this is another headache Max did not need.
