What is love 8-bit?

What is love 8-bit?
I called this 8-bit because there were other "8-bit" sites, and I figured I'd put it under the same search word. I've never played an atari game, but I might have to make a "3.8-bit" something now, to be a smartass.

The original wasn't funny. So cheap spin-offs (even well done ones) aren't going to be funny either.

That song doesn't sound 8-bit nor does the image look 8-bit, it looks more like Atari VCS quality visuals.

If you're going to argue technicalities, what is the definition of 8-bit?

Inkdrinker not every YTMND has to be funny in particular, no matter what your rule says. Stop being an a-hole.

It's cool. It's not really 8-bit. It's more like 80's keyboard style... still good job.

8-bit? This is like 2-bit. No NES game even looks remotely this bad. Normally, I would give you a 2, but I can't give anything with Will Ferrel in it above a 1, sorry
June 22nd, 2005
(0)
4/5 cause it takes guts to make an 8-Bit version of Will Farrel and Jim Carey AT THE SAME TIME!

This.. kicks.. ass... I LOVE YOU
June 22nd, 2005

It gets a solid 5, but it could still be way better. Maybe if one of the 8-bit experts tackled it, it could achieve perfection. Great job, though.
June 22nd, 2005

Holy crap, that was great.

Yup, this looks 4-bit more than anything else. Music sounds way off, but 3 for nice effort. "What is love Atari" would have made more sense.
June 23rd, 2005

1, thats not 8 bit, 2, thats not 8 bit music. You fail on all accounts. Plus, the music sounds like sh*t.

Who cares if the graphics/sound aren't 8 bit, I like the concept. I personally think its hilarious. :D

Now that someone's made a better YTMND of this, you now get a 1/5
June 23rd, 2005

as a few peoples said, it looks more like Atari 2600 graphics...or those old 80's Sierra games graphics...hmm...how about making a Game & Watch version of that thing? :-D
June 23rd, 2005
(0)
8 bit never looked that on it's worst day. i never thought I'd see a good ytmnd wrecked by the title, but here it is
June 23rd, 2005
(0)
Folks, the Atari 2600 WAS an 8-bit system. So it could definitely look like the Atari's earliest games.
June 23rd, 2005
(0)
then why not just put 'what is love atari' ? he would have got more props for that. but when you say '8-bit' it instantly brings to most people's minds the highly well known nintendo NES. - RobFunk, NY Times
June 23rd, 2005
(0)
I agree, robfunk. Shoulda been called What is Love Atari.
June 23rd, 2005
(0)
The other one is better. The graphics on this look bad even for the NES.
June 23rd, 2005
(0)
Nice as an Atari version.
June 23rd, 2005
(0)
it's too late, he called the domain nesroxbury.
(0)
f*ck these crappy YTMNDs. ITS JUST A f*ckING PAINT ANIMATION! IT ISN'T EVEN 8-BIT! IT WASNT EVEN FUNNY 8 YEARS AGO!
(0)
Oh and to the people saying "NEW FAD!", you obviously don't know that fads are made and not just shoved down everyones throats by 2 people who think skits from 1997 = topical.
June 23rd, 2005

this is hilarious but downvoted because its actually 4 bit
(0)
This look like a scene from King's Quest I
June 23rd, 2005
(0)
Actually, the image is so bad I think it's rather funny, so i'll bump this up to a 2. Consider it generous!
June 24th, 2005

4'd for being slightly worse than the others.
June 24th, 2005

The Atari VCS (2600) didn't even have a graphics chip unlike the the NES. The NES had superior graphics only because it had a graphics chip, the NES CPU was the same as the VCS.
June 24th, 2005
(0)
Nontheless, the Atari VCS is an 8-bit machine.
June 25th, 2005
(0)
Gave you a 4 because great idea and you beat CheapAlert...but his does look more 8-bit. Also downvoters need to shut the hell up.
June 25th, 2005

Should have been "What is Atari Love?" @ atariroxbury.ytmnd.com

PerfectAgent: May not look like much now, but back then, a graphics chip made a pretty big difference. =o What you're saying is like comparing DVD's to CD-Roms - DVD's are only superior because they have a higher writing density. Aside from that, the

Subdomain contains "NES". But it sounds nothing like NES and looks nothing like NES. Find a different console that this matches, move the site to a different subdomain, and I'll reconsider my 1.
