This is not epic. I've known about it forever. I could do it better than that, without hitting the walls. It's not a glitch, it's a short-cut. The hardest shortcut in that game was for the Princess Peach track, with the castle. I forgot the name, but you jumped from the long booster ramp to the left and landed on the track.
