You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover

Hello buds,
A good deal of exciting news on the forefront. First up is that after months of bugging the company who makes the software which turns our GIFs into SWF, they sent us the C++ source code for the GIF portion of the code and davidc managed to track down the bug. Now we're just waiting for them to send us a new version of the binary and we'll be ready to do another test. A little more about this at YTMND Development Blog. You can also view the source code of the new flash template here.
Next up is that the refactor is now being worked on at least 30 hours a week. We have the new design for YTMND.com. I've spent the last few months slowly rewriting all of the core libraries where needed and the dev site is beginning to come together. It's coming.
I know I'm guilty of prematurely announcing features, and I don't want you all too excited. It's still probably a couple months off, as this is a rewrite of 90% of YTMND's code base, as well as a 100% rewrite of the HTML and Javascript. So much of what currently runs YTMND was written in 2004 and 2005, and I've learned a lot since then. I'll try to update the dev blog frequently about what I'm working on and the progress. At some point in the future people will be needed to beta test the new site, as everything down to the login system has been completely rewritten.
I just got the new designs last week so I've been chopping them up. I know you all want a peek, but be patient my prettys.
T-shirts are still coming in, but this week I'm sending off some designs to the printer to do some test prints and see which designs end up looking good and which will fall apart after a few runs through the washer. I've got an actual third party on the store, so this time around things should be more organized. I'll post more information sometime next week on what designs we chose.
Some of you may have noticed that your votes are showing up delayed, or you are able to comment more frequently than previously allowed. This is due to DB maintenance which is required for the transition to the new code base, and it will continue for the next few weeks. Please try not to abuse the site at this time or you will receive swift punishment.

I don't know much about how it works, but how about it so if I posted a ytmnd link on my friends Facebook wall, he could watch it there, and click the link if he wanted to vote or comment. I have had the urge to do this numerous times. If this were implemented, anyone who goes to the given individuals page can see the ytmnd without leaving the page. This would really help in the sharing of ytmnds, and would really increase awareness of the site through facebook, as well as grow the community.
Or...or take voting power away from people who cast votes that Umfuld doesn't approve of. After all, he is the King of YTMND...the police officer who gives people tickets for jaywalking...the highway patrolman who pulls people over for going 76 on a 75 mph road...the cop that follows people with DUI histories and pulls them over for simple things like not signaling when turning into their own driveway at night when there is no other traffic around.
Hank, I agree with that. But I bet the Spy is a huge part of the revenue steam. I love the spy - but it's just stupid by this point. And pathetic eric - if I don't comment on your site you report what I voted - and you basically invite me to comment. Then you come here and say I should be banned from commenting. "Max, ban anyone who doesn't trade 5s with me, the most useless site maker. And let me insult them publicly for not trading 5s with me and prevent them from defending themselves. Thanx."
The only reason I suggest it is maybe the active membership at the moment is small enough to do it. It comes down to incentive. People not only don't have any incentive to not just abuse the vote system like Ocho and Prairiedog do, but in reality they are badly punished if they dare to vote fair. So locking people out of being able to vote would give them incentive to stop being idiots. It would all but eliminate alt account vote abuse. And most importantly it would reward good sites, instead of f*ggotry
And I'm sorry if I report what you vote, but it's hard to keep quiet when you constantly change that vote for reasons unrelated to the site itself. I also get the feeling that you sit on the spy and wait for me to post a site. You seem to save votes for people you don't like. And then I see you downvoting all of the sites on the JohnWhitecloud account...because? He's handing out a bunch of 5's? You're always bitching at people who give out a bunch of 5's. Zaalnog, wisdumcube...WHO CARES! THAT'S THEIR F*CKING CHOICE, NOT YOURS!!!!
And by no means am I trying to say I'm a perfect voter. But I know what fair voting is. There's just no point to it. You have 3 or 4 people left who give 2s,3s and 4s - and you have 30 people just trading 5s with each other - there's really no f*cking point in being one of the 3 or 4 people. Especially because all you are doing is making it so you can't compete. So yeah I could make another profile for just posting sites so i could fair vote without reprisals - but there's just no point. Probably never was.
No, you're wrong Eric. I'm not saying I'm the best YTMNDer - I'm not even in the best site maker's league. But I say with complete confidence that I'm better than Lacrossestar83. But according your votes, to a lot of other people's votes - that's not true. Why is that? Because of how I vote. Do you understand, you hypocritical nerd? And the bottom line is - The troll who posts the asset over and over again - assets that intended to do nothing but to troll has better ratings than the honest voter who...
puts effort into making fairly good sites. And it's like - Oh gee, I wonder why this place sucks now. I wonder I why site activity has and continues to drop? It must be Umfuld's comments - that we go out of our way to invite - including making dozens of sites a week just so he'll comment. His comments are the reason YTMND has died. His honest votes are the problem. I understand that you're like a for real child and sh*t - but you're in college now, so, feel free to grow up any time. We'll be okay with that.
And I want to thank you Eric for just going through many of my sites and doing what I'm sure you tell yourself is trying to vote fair. Like how jpage3.com earned a mighty 1 from you - while the Lacrossestar gem 'Triple Victory' not only was worthy of a 5 - but as you can see: ytmnd.com/sites/profile/913699 - you were vigilant enough to report that someone actually downvoted that site. Gosh. Max is lucky you're here - because if you weren't people might be able to voat < 5 on that site and get away with it!
ATTN MAX: "And then I see you downvoting all of the sites on the JohnWhitecloud account...because?" If you check the IP address on Johnwhitecloud I'm confident it will match that of user GaryGnu. Both accounts upvoted Prairiedogeric10's sites today. Eric, in turn, upvoted his (how many accounts he did it with? I don't know). This is what I'm talking about. They have no incentive NOT to do this. I downvote them for it, yes. I'm the only one left who dares do that anymore. They won't stop unless you make them
Umfuld: Could you please tell me how you determined that I upvoted Eric's sites as John Whitecloud for favors. I recall voting 5 because I enjoyed his site........... Like normal people. But since you seem so concerned with people voting and their motivations behind those votes, would you please explain your motivation for downvoting all of the sites by JohnWhitecloud? I don't care that you 1'd them all. I dont' care if you think they are sh*tty sites (they are) I want you to admit you downvote...
Prairiedogeric10's alt: ytmnd.com/users/coldcutcombo/votes - Upvoted GaryGnu's sh*tty sh*t with 2 accounts. So you two are not only trading 5s - you're trading 10s. And you try to make me look like an *ssh*le because I say 'That's not fair.' It's not f*cking fair. --- And great it's (you know) so it doesn't end up getting many views anyway - but maybe if every 16 year old nerd here didn't abuse the system - and SOME of you who are here all the time didn't treat the place like a f*cking toilet...
maybe the rest of us would be given some freedom here. But because of people like you, all douche bags in gabbly right now - because of you guys - we have no say in what gets featured here and what doesn't. We have no say - our votes (including your multiple votes) are meaningless - because of your immaturity and gayness. And you have no idea what I'm talking about - because you're a f*cking moron and I won't waste any more time on the likes of you - cheaters.
Umfuld: I've had this argument with you before. If I upvoted PDE10 with more than one account (and I don't think I did) it was an accident. PDE10 and I enjoy the same inside joke... that's what this site is about... jokes. Get over it. You sound like a 6 year old crying about how life isn't fair. If you haven't figured out life isn't fair by now then I truly do pitty you.
"People not only don't have any incentive to not just abuse the vote system like Ocho and Prairiedog do," ...Wow, that's a triple negative! Does that mean that people only have any incentive to just ... ah forget it. "but in reality they are badly punished if they dare to vote fair." Are you talking about time I voted 3 on one of your sites and then find all my most recent comments minused?
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No, I won't be afraid
Oh, I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
So, darling, darling
(Chorus:)
Stand by me
Oh, stand by me
Oh, stand
Stand by me
Stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry
No, I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And, darling, darling
(Repeat chorus)
Darling, darling
(Repeat chorus until fade)
MuffinBear is still revenge downvoting. All because I caught him using his alt to upvote his sites and double-downvote other peoples back at the end of August. His alt account is SirMarmelton. And he's still doing it from time to time. Check the IP addresses. His existence on this site is unnecessary. Max, I implore you to completely remove his accounts from YTMND. I mean, earlier in the year you threatened to delete ficklefackle and DaveTheRave!!! For what??? This guy deserves to go. Look at this: http://content.ytmnd.com/content/7/c/4/7c4fe8c6c819852b274146cf54db7a9b.png
I thought that was going to be a png of his alt's voting patterns, instead it's just him leaving rude comments on your sites. I don't think max usually listens to users' personal quests for revenge (whenever he listens to anything at all). This guy would have to publicly humiliate max to cause him to be banned immediately. It would've been more effective if you instead linked to this image for your argument: http://content.ytmnd.com/content/4/1/0/410ceb652b4febc36ca19f56a7c8d75b.gif
