She mentioned this to her friend Miss Lucas.
"It may perhaps be pleasant," replied Charlotte, "to be
able to impose on the public in such a case; but it is sometimes a disadvantage to be so very guarded. If a woman
conceals her affection with the same skill from the object
of it, she may lose the opportunity of fixing him; and it
will then be but poor consolation to believe the world
equally in the dark. There is so much of gratitude or vanity
in almost every attachment, that it is not safe to leave any
to itself. We can all begin freely -- a slight preference is natural
enough; but there are very few of us who have heart enough
to be really in love without encouragement. In nine cases
out of ten, a woman had better shew more affection than
she feels. Bingley likes your sister undoubtedly; but he
may never do more than like her, if she does not help
him on.
"But she does help him on, as much as her nature will allow.
If I can perceive her regard for him, he must be a simpleton
indeed not to discover it too."
"Remember, Eliza, that he does not know Jane's disposition
as you do."
"But if a woman is partial to a man, and does not endeavour
to conceal it, he must find it out."
"Perhaps he must, if he sees enough of her. But though
Bingley and Jane meet tolerably often, it is never for many
hours together; and as they always see each other in large
mixed parties, it is impossible that every moment should be
employed in conversing together. Jane should therefore make
the most of every half hour in which she can command his
attention. When she is secure of him, there will be leisure for
falling in love as much as she chuses."

Chapter 6

THE ladies of Longbourn soon waited on those of Netherfield.
The visit was returned in due form. Miss Bennet's
pleasing manners grew on the good will of Mrs. Hurst and
Miss Bingley; and though the mother was found to be intolerable
and the younger sisters not worth speaking to, a wish of
being better acquainted with them, was expressed towards the
two eldest. By Jane this attention was received with the
greatest pleasure; but Elizabeth still saw superciliousness in
their treatment of every body, hardly excepting even her sister,
and could not like them; though their kindness to Jane, such
as it was, had a value as arising in all probability from the
influence of their brother's admiration. It was generally
evident whenever they met, that he did admire her; and to
her it was equally evident that Jane was yielding to the preference which she had begun to entertain for him from the
first, and was in a way to be very much in love; but she considered with pleasure that it was not likely to be discovered by
the world in general, since Jane united with great strength of
feeling, a composure of temper and a uniform cheerfulness of
manner, which would guard her from the suspicions of the
impertinent.

Lydia, my love, though you are the
youngest, I dare say Mr. Bingley will dance with you at the
next ball."
"Oh!" said Lydia stoutly, "I am not afraid; for though I am
the youngest, I'm the tallest."
The rest of the evening was spent in conjecturing how soon
he would return Mr. Bennet's visit, and determining when
they should ask him to dinner.

A fortnight's acquaintance
is certainly very little. One cannot know what a man really is
by the end of a fortnight. But if we do not venture, somebody
else will; and after all, Mrs. Long and her nieces must stand
their chance; and therefore, as she will think it an act of kindness,
if you decline the office, I will take it on myself."
The girls stared at their father. Mrs. Bennet said only,
"Nonsense, nonsense!"
"What can be the meaning of that emphatic exclamation?"
cried he. "Do you consider the forms of introduction, and the
stress that is laid on them, as nonsense? I cannot quite agree
with you there. its hard to believe that 7 years ago, people really took the internet seriously. making serious comments and chanting on boards were meaningful, with no second though how language is written. this asumed nice kid is mocked for her personality ...it could of been a "troll," or had not relation with their humor. now everything written on the internet is questionable. the masses learn about dishonestly, and ironically in a hip way love "trolling." a "troll" is an excuse for not understanding ourselves.

obviously, someone has been mocked, and it has been the masses stubborn (quite hostile) personality.

fuck all nerds.

The author of this article never saw a site:

Man Animates Joke About Tortilla Chips Told By His Drunk Wife
http://www.uproxx.com/webculture/2013/05/adam-patch-animated-joke/

"Since the beginning of time writers, thinkers, philosophers, etc. have tried to quantify love, to put a price tag on it, if you will. To establish a standard for measuring it. Many have come up with hypothetical situations along the line of “would you take a bullet for this person” or “would you run into a burning building to try to save this person,” etc. All of those are horsesh*t, effective now.

Why? Because I’m pretty sure I have discovered the definitive standard measurement for love, and it is this: 1) recording your drunk-on-wine significant other drunkenly tell a corny joke and 2) cleverly animating that joke for all the world to see and hear on the internet. If you are not willing to do these things for someone — just as Adam Patch did — well, you just don’t love them. That is all.

Well done, Mr. Patch."

Devil Derrick, as someone who has creeped ytmnd for about 2 years before creating an account, i feel i must bring your attention to a certain factor this site provides that you seem to be neglecting.

Niche and inside jokes are what make this website extremely appealing.

2 years ago a friend sent me a link to the dramatic reading of the breakup letter. I thought it was hilarious. Then i found myself navigating to the homepage of ytmnd and looking around. I had no idea what was going on. I tried to search "dramatic" to find the site i had seen, and then i stumbled upon a fad of using dramatic ass music like "ghost love score" with looped gifs or ridiculous pictures in the foreground. I started to see what this place was about, sort of. The site with batman carrying the classic villain bomb, running through a crowded area, is also hilarious.

And so, i found myself navigating the website, clicking on titles i might identify with, or understand in the slightest bit. Some sites are annoying as fuck, some shit i just dont understand at all, and some other stuff is just plain stupid. However, I constantly found myself intrigued by sites that were clearly an inside joke of some sort.

keep in mind that every single fad site is, indeed, an inside joke that most "outsiders" wouldn't understand. (and i wont even mention the enjoyment of realizing that fads were even a thing). Unless a site can stand up on its own, despite whatever fad it is a part of, an outsider would have no idea what it was and would likely exit the window thinking "dafuq was tht?"

My point is, this site is just one big inside joke. There are so many different things going on, all at once. Not only that, but there are different layers of upon layers of niche to dive into. Im just starting to realize the politics involved in voting. jesus christ.

And yeah, mds. Your comment just shows your LACK of "After Effects professionalism." This gif is pretty and everything, but none of the actual skilled animation was done by this user. He/she also didn't create any of the original footage or even simple assets. After Effects is the great compiler, like photoshop on acid. It's okay. The message not being clear is understood, as it is abstract, and was mostly for myslef and a few friends IRL.

I only retorted to the random stuff comment to try and explain how it wasn't random to me, though it may appear so to you.

By the background, I assume you mean the 4-up collage of Forrest dancing to Elvis's guitar playing..

In one of the squares, his face is prominent, but his eyes and mouth have been obscured by brush strokes to the point where he looks inhuman and appears to be incapable of speech or sight (lacking communication abilities and conventional human wisdom).

This shows how people in his community view and treat him (as an inhuman monster, like Frankenstein's monster) and how many normal people today view handicaps - especially the mentally challenged).

This speak-no-evil and see-no-evil distortion/mutilation also portrays Forrest's inability to express his confusion and pain from his ostracizing. Though he lacks communication skills, he does think and feel, as demonstrated by his interpretive dance moves.

The other 3 squares are connected physically (the brush stokes overlap, blend and connect certain squares at times) and conceptually, as they demonstrate his magic-leg-dancing attempt at moshing to the percussion of the "normal" world's expectations of him. Although his mechanical braces look heavy and clunky in normal view, here in his muddy and modeled vision we see how, to him, they float and flow like oil on water. All the sharp edges and stigmas melt away into an effortless footloose-ness as he wriggles and writhes his way through a first foray into jubilation.

All 4 background squares represent his difficulty and pain, and how he tries to cope on his own.

The foreground represents his rapture and joy in finding rare and true friends who love him for who he is.
