Though it may not be directly observed, it is the only logical explanation. When 1 slit yields a standard expected pattern, that of regular matter, and 2 slits yield an interference pattern, just as when water or light which travels in waves go through 2. The only possible outcome is the single particle traveling like a wave through both slits.
Ok, you're right in a general sense, but you misrepresent some of your "facts". #1 the particle is not everywhere at once, thats impossible, what is possible is that the particle is likely to be in a specific area, a probability that it will be in a specific area (its probability wave). Since you have made this I'm sure you're aware of quantum probability wave/field collapse, and the only time in which it happens (according to one of the leading theories) is when the particle in question is measured.
Texaggie7, learn some science. It is not the particle that travels through both slits, it is its probability wave. Because if you were to (it has been done) put a detector after one of the slits that does not interfere with the particles, only tells you what slit they went through.....there is no intereference pattern formed, because the particles probability wave has collapsed to 100% ina specific direction. it is only through unmeasured slits that the interference is built up......
I like all the people who say, oh this is just Wave / Particle Duality. That's really old. It's already been explained. NO. This experiment is still amazing in the mind warping way it destroys any attempts at trying to visualize matter / energy. The photoelectric effect shows that photons act like particles, yet we saw here that they also act like waves. Even when a single particle is being shot it acts like a wave. That's messed up. And while probability is a nice, it's a tool, not an answer.

years of scientific research in the middle ages 'proved' the earth was flat, and that the sun orbited it. Just because it's research doesn't mean it's right. Science is always open to criticism and really any theory that makes sense. There are several scientists who believe in the theories he proposed, and they're quite possible. Don't assume something's true just because some f*ggy aggie told you so. Always be critical: the first rule of science.
Normally I'm against seeing this kind of stuff on YTMND, so I'm giving a 1 - this site isn't for such info, and it's not your own. But I genuinely find this topic interesting and the site was presented well. Basically I enjoyed it, but on a YTMND level, it's not suitable. So I'm split at a 3. I suppose you'll be delving into the Quantum Immortality theory next?
I'm not quite sure about what we know about quantum mechanics yet, but I do like how you explained this phenomenon. I very much like the idea of an electron being in two places at one time, although it's a bit counterintuitive, eh? Perhaps though it is true that, romantically, when we touch our electrons each other, we breathe the same air and are each other, eat of the same molecules that once composed the great people of the past and we have participated in molecules that will be the great people of the f
Thanks...i feel like im in high school all over again. Anyway the explanation for the experiment with firing one electron at a time is utterly retarded and just an attempt for scientists to explain what they don't understand. Not to say I understand why they work like that..but i mean come on, If that were true it would contradict all we know about particles and wave particles in a time binded universe.

I'm sure this point has been made but: Lasers are light, generated radiatively by an excited atom source (like a ruby) and emitted as a coherent stream (all the photons travel the same direction, making the beam incredibly intense for very little energy). Lasers can also be plane polarized light where the constructive interference increases the amplitude, which in light is equal to its intensity, so once more you generate a very intense point of light for very little energy.
Maybe this goes over the heads of the uneducated masses of ytmnd regulars, but I can't see voting any higher for a site that spits out popular pseudo-science tripe and then takes the typical "go google it" cop-out on the difficult part. Nothing is technically incorrect about this, but there's so much unwarranted speculation and hand-waving and that it would make Michael Crichton blush in his grave.
