Even though its a good mix, these kinds of sites rely on good synching and this one falls out of it frequently. This can't be faulted on anything in particular because its an unknown variable based on the end user's system/browser. I heard C3P0's voice about 5 seconds before I saw the scene with his head off. aids. FF.
What in the hell is wrong with users lately? nutnics gave it a four and offered helpful advice as to what wasn't working and the retarded mass of 12-year olds that have been sh*tting all over this place extra special hard in the last few months still [-] his comments. F*ck web2.0 and the LOLCATZ-making c*nts it brought to the internet by the millions.
wisdum, you regularly benefit from the people I'm talking about. Elezzzark's current spam attack (I assume that's to what you are referring) is obnoxious but it's hardly the handjobbing group-think that controls the front page lately and knee-jerk mob-attacks anyone who doesn't join in the circle jerk.
I'm not referring to Elezzark's spam at all, although it is annoying. I'm referring to the awful sites the majority of the FPA puts out onto the frontpage (there are some funny ones, I'm not going to lie), and this encourages other kids to join the FPA in hopes of pleasing that crowd. They are by far the worst circle jerks on this site. It's not like most my stuff where it actually gets voted on naturally apart from like four or five people I link my stuff to, on occasion. (even then I never ask for fives)
The fact that I participated in the MoN fad does change things a little. I mean people are more inclined to five it, being popular and all. But, if you are suggesting that its all apart of a big circle jerk and not genuine interest in the fad itself, then it must the biggest conspiracy found on ytmnd ever. And I didn't get the memo.
What Wootsat said. It's to the point where comments with votes of 3 or 4 get [-]'d on a regular basis. That's not the FPA doing that crap. It's a bunch of users who spend as much time on AIM/MSN as they do here. There have always been cliques and immature bullsh*t here. The difference is that a large chunk of users took a page out of fourest's handbook and now practice his behavior regularly. I don't fault anyone simply for benefiting from it but I do fault anyone w/o the balls to call it what it is.
How am I benefiting from these people though? I don't do reach arounds. I vote on what I like. If my ratings were so inflated (using your theory) then why do I get low rated sites too? Are you saying upvoters never caught sight of those? Or maybe, there are some other people on this website that vote without this bias. I'm not saying that the FPA is responsible for every comment downvote. I'm not saying they are responsible for all immaturity on ytmnd. I am just saying that they are one contributing factor.
Have you ever stopped and thought that when a site gets a rating you think it doesn't deserve, its not necessarily the work of circle jerking? Maybe the majority just has a different opinion than you? There is a group mentality going on, but its not as big as you think. I mean, look at the comments now. They are no longer negative. See? There is more than one force at work here.
Honestly...I've never commented on this? I know I didn't see it when it was made because I was somewhere in the air between San Diego and Minneapolis, but I finally did see it about a month or so later. I got a friend who is a huge fan of the Breeders (he even met them) and thanks to this site, I've become somewhat a fan myself. I just FAV'd it a few minutes ago.
