I'm reading Slavoj Zizek right now - he is one of the best apologists for Marxism (and psychoanalysis) I've ever encountered. And your point is well taken: technically, Leninist and Stalinist Russia were not "new animations of the same (Marxist) idea." They were perversions of an idea.

I am probably not going to five another Stalin site, because this obviously the pinnacle achievement of this mini-fad. And I doubt it can get any better than this. Sure it isn't original on its own, but something must be rewarded for perfecting a great idea.

That's part of the reason I like the Rainbow Stalin fad - it's so simple. It's just a constant, propagandistic repetition of the same images, all subverted in roughly the same way (gay, rave, etc.) - it sort of mirrors how this propaganda actually works. Just keep repeating the image until you love the Leader. Totally appeals to me on the meta level, but I can see it just being really f*cking annoying too.
