Super Mario 64 is a strange game. I remeber the game when I was young. I think it was back in Christmas of 1996 or 7. Unlce Mike bought us a Nintendo 64. The game that came with it was Super Mario 64. I remember the day, Mom told Dad to install the N64 into the giant brown TV. It was in the basement. I was just staring at Dad as he played with the wires . The N64 was on. It was a matter of finding the right TV channel. Luckily, he pressed video, and the game was on the menu select screen. Obviously, Kevin must of press the start button the controller, passing the intro screen. I just remeber the TV screen pass to the side, and things were all around the place. All his chaos just to install an easy video game system. Mom probley told him to do it. We patch his pain. This probaley was after Christmas, somewhere in Janauary.<br /><br />I don't have much memory Super Mario 64 after that moment. Just Don playing the game anyway. The next mememory would be in 1st grade. Maybe 1998. I was getting off the bus. I think Kevin was there, not sure. Colin and some other kid was there too. I was a cartoon characther back then. I really thought I was something like an animated comedian. I said "I have some good news and some bad news. Good news is, I know where the 7th star in Bomb-omb battlefield is. There is such a thing as free will, and theoretically we all have it.<br /><br />So, back to original question: should we -- or I, at least -- be more patient with those who have Aspergers Syndrome? I'd probably have more sympathy if advocates for Aspergers would at least admit that part of the syndrome is an intrinsic unreasonableness and rigidity which almost always lead to various forms of what most of us would call selfishness. But advocates instead constantly point out famous and successful people who have the syndrome, and talk about how Aspies are "differently abled" or some such nonsense. <br /><br />If Aspergers spokespeople would only say, we can't help the fact that even though we're very critical and judgmental ourselves we melt down if given criticism, and we can't help the fact that we can't take jokes and and that we're extremely rigid and very literal....Well, then I suspect I'd be more patient and sympathetic. But Aspergers advocates never admit to these things.

If this really is the end, I just want to thank Max for creating this place. I had some really good times on this site. Its Golden Age was a thing of beauty- there was so much creativity, and so much craziness. And thanks to all the users who made so many awesome YTMNDs over the years. There might be a spike, but this is not going to last. I also get the feeling that site sponsorships are a "drop in the bucket" for costs, even today for hosting costs and general maintenance work.<br /><br />Best thing we can hope for is for Max to breakdown the costs of ownership of the website in a fairly transparent manner so we can see just how realistic keeping it up actually is. I'd be willing to bet all of these sites take up terabytes of just storage space...<br /><br />An updated news posting would be nice as well, if just to say "hi." Not all of us are fully "mentally ill," just nostalgic at seeing a piece of our lives (and online history) discussed again and to not totally fall into obscurity.

Was there some sort of news recently about the website being killed off? I just assumed it would be up for all eternity.<br /><br />The code base (complete with revisions) arguably should be open sourced though so it could live on. That, and the site content (aside from users/passwords, for obvious reasons.)<br /><br />I've been wanting to implement a version of the 2007 YTMND with HTML5 support for a long time. This place is just one of those things that needs to be preserved (and upgraded) like 'ole Ventrilo.

You act like you know so much about libertarian philosophy or politics, but it doesn't seem like you actually do. That's the kindest way for me to put it. Libertarians prefer personal and economic liberty first over the structural style of government or how the leader gets power.<br /><br />Many even correctly point out that the USA was set up as a limited republic where representatives would serve as a buffer against the excessses of majoritarianism. In other words, things like religious fanatics not massing up at a vote to turn people of rival religions into criminals. Or perhaps most people in that country hate gays, jews, gypsies, etc. and would like to persecute them. This is a fairly mainstream libertarian view on things from Jefferson to Ayn Rand and even many libertarians and republicans today.<br /><br />Anarcho-capitalists like myself, on the other hand, have practically no concern for democracy, at least political democracy at all because we believe in no government at all, at least not the kind that is set up in a completely consensual manner, like an apartment rental agreement, or security contract. I suggest you read writings of Rothbard for more info or read 'Practical Anarchy' by Stefan Molyneux.<br /><br />Finally, there is even a well known libertarian professor who makes the case that monarchy is better for personal liberty than democracy with his book "Democracy: The God that Failed".

Everyone else has led the USA and other countries in the west into ever growing piles of debt. You end up going home with a paycheck comparable to USA poverty line.<br /><br />- b. Libertarians are not the ones who lead countries into war. They almost always are against them. The older producer (especially if a large corporation) often has a lot of years of accumulated dead weight and bureaucracies which make it harder for it to adjust itself to be competitive with newer and more agile companies.<br /><br />Is there instability for the consumers as well? Yes, the consumers have the ability to buy ever increasingly affordable products and services at a better quality from newer firms. Nowadays, we see this quite frequently with software, video games, televisions, computers, cameras, mobile phones. There are also other occurances, like with Uber and Lyft vs the old taxi companies. Today, some mobile phones have more computing power than a lot of desktops from even just 5 to 10 years ago.<br /><br />Even if we set aside this logic and modern day examples, all the related economic charts actually seem to show (between 1865 or end of US Civil War and 1914) that the alleged instability in banking you speak of was actually a good thing. Prices were falling for consumer goods. More and more people were able to afford some basic things we take for granted today. Exports from the USA were on the rise compared to imports. The industrial index grew. Technology improved. People joyously immigrated to the United States by the millions and sometimes made even enough money to send back to their home countries.

Umfuld, there is a difference between people forcing a fad every now and then on the front page for kicks and the MoonCrew or JohnnyLurg cult of alts. All I will add is that there are indeed countries that do have capitalism AND also needlessly destroy resources. I am familiar with this sort of objection. But I do want to say that I think there are also some countries which have varying degrees of capitalism present, but to my limited knowledge, are not known for being exploitative or wasteful of resources. For example, I am unaware that Denmark or Switzerland are known for exploiting people or invading countries for oil.<br /><br />My point is that I am skeptical that capitalism will always lead to bad things every time. But maybe I am working with a different definition of capitalism than you.

While I agree with his general premise, we are witnessing an age where capital is entirely capable of absorbing, even co-opting, its own critique. In the US, hegemony smugly praises itself as "welcoming" dissent and diversity of opinion, all while subsuming any radical gesture into the spectacle. Just ask any dedicated radical (from any political ideology) who's ever worked "behind the scenes" to organize anything, from SDS to OWS to the Tea Party movement: there's a reason the people in the stupid hats and face makeup, at whatever rally, sit-in, or protest we're talking about, are the first to be approached, interviewed, featured, etc.
